Hurricane Alex made landfall at Soto la Marina, Tamaulipas, Mexico on June 30, 2010, as a category 2 hurricane. During this time the Coastal Marine Geospatial Lab had a demonstration of an UAV built by RP FlightSystems. The UAV was able to fly with winds gusts in excess of 75 km/h. Onshore winds combined with some record rainfall produced a storm surge that can be seen in the photos. The winds was strong enough to erode wet sand of the dunes!
